The endangered desert tortoise

This summer, the kids and I found a turtle while we were hiking at Dixie Park! We quietly followed him for a long time, and he lead us to his home! We were so excited to find his little habitat. We carefully memorized the exact location so that we could come visit him again. Just a few weeks later, our family was at Dixie Park with some friends, and the kids and I decided to go check on the turtle's home to see if he was there. We were absolutely thrilled to not only find his home easily, but to see him nestled inside! That was a highlight of our summer for me. I loved discovering nature with the kids.
