The oldest Kids are the hardest, I swear!

Today I received two phone calls, virtually back-to-back, from the schools of my two oldest children. Each of them had not been doing what they were supposed to be doing and were in trouble. I tell you, I am a good mother, and yet they disgrace me! I join the ranks of good mothers everywhere who think that by their good mothering, their children will do what they are supposed to do. These good women, as I, will meet with disappointment.

Why do the oldest children take all of your energy? I've talked to several mothers this week who all agree that the oldest kid or kids seem to take all of the focus and energy. It seems so unfair to the young ones, and I hope they aren't scarred for life, but my oldest kids suck the brains out of my head and the energy out of my body.

It's all good, though. They are breaking me in. I am learning and growing from the experiences. But I still think it is unfair...
