Legal drugs are waaaay funner than illegal drugs

Lately I've really been thinking about illegal drugs, and why would anyone use them when so many more appealing options are out there?  I could name several things that are better than drugs.  These things are cheaper, more fun, highly productive, and allow you to not only keep your good name in the community, but may actually enhance it!  I believe that God did not ask us to avoid illegal drugs to punish us.   He provided stuff that is much better.

Running (well, exercise in general) is drug.  It provides distraction and a great sense of well being.  I am hooked!  I don't exercise out of obligation.  I do it to feel great.

Learning is a drug.  I love getting totally immersed in a topic and losing myself in research.  I love the feeling of my brain being challenged and  my intellect being totally alive.

Theater is a drug.  Ask anyone whose done it.  I love being on stage as well as rehearsing for my part.  Theater, like running, is a distraction from bills, phone calls, kids trouble, and just about everything else.  It is a legitimate way to "be someone else" for just a little while (without the psychotic break!). 

I could list many more drugs in my life: art, singing, cooking, lunch with a good friend.... you fill in the blanks.  Being happy is not a state of the economy or a function of what other think of you.  Happiness is where you choose to put your mind.  As the good old '80's anti-drug campaign stated, choose to "get high on life!"
