(From my original Blogspot)

I have been involved in forming a neighborhood book club/writing club. A thriving book club is already in full swing among the neighborhood ladies, but they often choose books that I don't want to read, so, three like-minded ladies (I am one of them) have founded a book club dedicated to history, philosophy, biography, and religion. Last night at our founding meeting, I suggested that we also include our own writings on a monthly basis as well. First I ascertained whether each lady had ambitions to write (and indeed, each did), then suggested that each month we try different styles: free form poetry, a persuasive piece, a scholarly piece, a religious piece, children's emergent reader material, etc., and share it with one another while offering a generous critique. I am looking forward to this new opportunity.
