I am nothing without God

(From my original Blogspot)
Lately my mind has been drawn to consider how I am nothing without God. Lately I've been going about my business, doing the things that I do, and suddenly the idea breaks into my thoughts that without God I wouldn't be humming along. It is not a feeling that makes me feel small or inadequate, but rather, it makes me feel grateful and in awe of what God does for me (and everyone, if they will recognize it).
Every time someone pays me a complement or wonders how I accomplished something, I hear their words. But in the back of my mind I am thinking, "my success was God's mercy." Whether it is being able to take care of my kids well, make sound financial decisions, or learn easily from what I am reading, I always feel that I am receiving help from above -- and often that comes through the people around me. These people are common, which I find encouraging, because I am common. But they help me. A comment someone made; a suggestion, an idea... little of what I think or do is original (or perhaps none of it is), but thanks to people around me, I can become more than I am and I have hope.
