Grateful for simple things

The older I get, the more grateful I am for simple things.


All of us get knocked around a bit by life, and I am glad we do, because it is in getting knocked around that we learn to be so grateful for the peaceful times and the small pleasures.


We learn to be glad that there is food to eat. We learn to be glad when the sun is out and the mortgage is paid. We learn to be glad that our children are safe in their beds at night; they don't have to be future rocket scientists... it is good enough that they are safe. We learn to be glad that clean water comes out of our hose. So what if the hose kinks, or a patch of the grass is brown?


It feels good to be happy, even amongst the chaos of life...
