*COMEDY* Why I like certain games

So my daughter and I came up with another hilarious scenario. You know "that person" who only likes games they can win? The one who is really competitive and always putting it in your face when they are good at something? And they can't own it if they aren't good at everything, and they can't be happy for others success. Haha... well, we have this funny character. Its a teen girl who is really self centered, and she talks in a really self-focused whiny voice. Here's a scene with her in it:

At the table, with her friend, playing Connect 4

Whiny Girl: Its my turn. Cool. I'm getting close to winning.

Friend: But you didn't see this coming! Hah. Now I won!

Whiny: Oh my gosh! That's so lame. I don't like this game.

Whiny Girl squints, and looks disgusted, shaking her head.

Whiny: Well this game is just luck anyway. There is no way to control who wins.

Friend: Wanna play again?

Whiny: Not really, but I guess...I don't like games of luck. They don't account for anyone's skill. And I'm like really good with strategy games.

The two play another game, and this time, Whiny Girl wins

Whiny: I guess this game is more strategy based. I think its pretty good. I guess I like it.

Friend: O....K....but I thought you didn't like it.

Whiny: no, I do. I like strategy games.

Next time Whiny Girl loses

Friend: I win!

Whiny: Oh my gosh I told you it was a luck game. I don't like luck games.

Friend: Wanna play Uno?

Whiny: Is it luck or strategy?

Friend: I don't know.

Whiny girl wins three games of Uno in a row.

Whiny: This game is awesome! I think I'm really good at it. I really feel like Uno is a game that makes people think and I'm really smart so I was able to win it.

Friend: I think its probably more of a luck game....

Whiny: No, for sure its strategy. Let's play again. I have a plan that is like really good for this one.

Whiny loses this time.

Whiny: I guess its just a luck game. I don't want to play any more.

Friend: But I thought you liked this game now

Whiny: Well I don't. Its not a fair game.

We love this character! She is so funny. She is blind to her bias towards herself to see victories as due to her strengths, and her defeats as only a stroke of bad luck. We love to impersonate her whenever we play games because it makes us laugh. I mean, most games are a combination of luck and strategy. But we think it's hilarious to "pretend" that a luck game was due to fancy footwork and to be all "proud" and Me-Monster-ish.

In general, I am lousy at any kind of strategy, but its super fun to act like I'm so amazing if I accidentally win Connect 4 (which is about 10% of the time) and attribute it to some complicated mathematical algorithm or even a sly psychological gimmick. Games give permission to be different than we are. Supposedly, humor indicates a little about someone's "issues." That's scary. Because we think that Whiny Girl is hilarious!
